Demetra Pugal is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC). She received her Bachelor’s degree from Elmhurst College and her Master’s degree in Clinical Professional Psychology, with an emphasis on Child and Family Studies, from Roosevelt University. Demetra works with families to improve their ability to cope with difficult situations. Her specialties include: enhancing family relationships, parent education, behavior management, and raising children with special needs. Demetra’s therapy approach is based on the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Mode.
She has experience in a variety of settings helping children with complex medical issues. At Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Demetra was a Brown Family Life Center Assistant. She worked with patients to manage their anxiety and beliefs about their illness. She ran developmental playgrounds for children ages 4 to 11. Demetra advocated and addressed psychosocial, spiritual, developmental, and cultural needs of the child and family throughout the continuum of care.
Demetra is currently credentialed as an Early Intervention Therapist and works specifically with children birth to three years old with developmental delays.
